US Air Force in Grenada

For the past week Derek and I have noticed US Air Force C17 planes taking off and landing at the airport here in Grenada! We have been wondering what they were doing here! We finally found out today!

The 5th Summit of the Americas is in Port of Spain, Trinidad this weekend and Obama is going to be there!

We are assuming that the C17s we have been seeing this week have been bring in supplies. According to this article they were flying down the vehicles for Obama's motorcade.

We walked up to the top of campus today and took a few pictures! Hope you enjoy them!

If you look close the tail of the above C17 looks like this one below. I believe the plane came from Charleston, South Carolina! I found this picture below on the Internet, but I took all the others!

The video below is a series of picture I took of the C17 landing this afternoon.

I am hoping to take more pictures later this week! I will post them if I get them! I would like to get pictures of the fighter jets landing or taking off. When we went up there today the fighter jets had just landed there was a cable stretched across the runway to stop them because the runway is not long enough for the jets to stop. However the C17 stopped almost as soon as it landed...it did not use hardly any of the runway. It was an amazing site to see!

Rainbows

Isn't this beautiful?!?!

Last weekend while I was sitting outside on our balcony studying this is what I had to look at for about 30 minutes! This particular day was kind of strange. There were bright blue skies but the occasional rain cloud would pass over. During a period of a few hours I think I saw 5 or 6 different rainbows. The one pictured above was the biggest and brightest! It was so big that I could not get the whole rainbow into one picture...so I have to take 2 separate pictures then put them together on the computer. What a beautiful scene to look at while studying!!

Grenada Chocolate Company

Derek & I have discovered a lot of new and interesting things since we have been in Grenada! One of the new things we have found is local made chocolate from Grenada Chocolate Company! The chocolate they make is organic dark chocolate...60% & 71% chocolate...which is very dark!
I first tried their chocolate about a year ago. The first time I had it I thought it was terrible! I did not know that it was dark chocolate & it was the 71% too! When I bought it I wanted a Hershey's bar but could not find that...so this dark chocolate was far from what I wanted.
Since that first terrible experience Derek & I have bought it several times! It turns out the chocolate is really wonderful...even if you don't like dark chocolate!
The Grenada Chocolate Company has the cutest little van they drive around the island delivering their chocolate. We spotted it the other day on campus and I just had to capture a picture of it to share it with you! You can compare the side of the van to the full size car next to it in the picture!
If you are a fan of dark chocolate let us know and we can bring some home to you! The picture below is the wrapper...isn't it cute? Click on the picture to go to their website!
